The best place to enjoy numerous water sports has to be on the Mar Menor, Costa Calida. There are plenty of clubs where you can learn to sail, windsurf, go diving, jet skiing etc. Or call into one of the marinas and hire a boat for the day and enjoy the lovely surroundings along the coast of the Mar Menor or take it out into the mediteranean sea and follow the coast up to the Costa Blanca etc. At weekends my wife and I used to visit La Isla Perdiguera on the mar menor, it is the only island which you are allowed to stop and moar your boat or jet ski in our case. There you can view all the different types of sea birds nesting on the mountain, visit some ruins, and best of all sit on the beach at one of the 2 chiringuitos ( beach Bars ) and enjoy the local dish of Caldero which is a fish stew served in a pot, treat yourself to a Paella, or just sample the fresh sardines, squid, and other delightful tapas with a nice jug of Sangria then relax on the beach before returning to the coast.
